We have a wonderful farm life, and in our spare time we enjoy fishing in
our pond that we have stocked. I also school and show my Irish Sport
Horse in dressage, and hunter under saddle classes.  We are strong
Christians, believing God is an important aspect in our life and in our
marriage.  We are so thankful to have the quality of life to which we enjoy,
as well as good health.   We enjoy our rat terrier dogs, and our ragdoll
cats as pets.  Two of our rat terriers are great rodent dogs.  Our lab mix
keeps all wild animals out of the pond.
STRING OF PEARLS, registered Irish
Sport Horse, affectionately called Junior.
Smoky (cat) and Emmy are both rescues.  Emmy came to us
as a young puppy, now 6 years old, Emmy has severe brain
damage from possible distemper as an infant.  But she is a
very happy gal.  She just requires a lot of supervision. She
literally could not find her way out of a paper bag!
Twister was a sad case with a happy ending.  He was dropped off on a gravel road in the winter with his
mom and sister at the age of four weeks.  He came to us through rescue with a dislocated front leg, which
was immediately repaired.   He is now 5 yrs old, with a wonderful zest for life.  He really thinks he is
special, and a great mouser too!
Junior is a 17.1 hand Irish Sport horse, born April 2004.  His sire is Mountain Pearl,
Registered Irish Draught who returned to Ireland last year.  Junior is bred for jumping
and dressage.  His mother is an appendix quarter horse, 3/4 thoroughbred, her grand
sire is Seattle Slew.  He is truly an awesome animal.  The Irish Draught is known for
quiet offspring with great dispositions.  As a young gelding Junior certainly can be a
stinker, but for the most part, he is a joy to ride, and has exceptional ground manners.
Junior was born on our farm, and some of his best buddies are the goats.

Our goat feeders that really work well in conserving and
completely preventing hay waste.
Over the years of feeding goats we have come to the conclusion that no farm animal wastes hay like goats.  It makes
no difference what the quality of hay consists to be, what lays on the ground stays on the ground.  The traditional hay
feeder does not offer  any solutions to this problem.  Jim and I have  devised a hay feeder that you can also feed
grain as well that has completely eliminated any hay waste at all.  It consists of  a manger in front of the goats to feed
grain, and the hay pulled from the hay rack also will fall into this area.  But it does not become soiled, the goats if not
overfed do finish the hay and also eat the chaff that in the past has been wasted as well.  Any hay left in the manger I
put back up into the hay portion of the feeder for the goats to finish.  It has worked great for us and we hope it would
be a help to you as well.

Hay portion of feeder contains hay.                 Right side of hay
(left side) hay.  We are using hog
panels to hold  the hay .                                feeder/manger
                                                                 has a wood floor
                                                                 and  that holds grain
We can adjust the depth of the hay            as well as dropped
storage area if we need to increase             hay
amounts
                                                                .
I wanted to feed this doe pen extra hay and this allows us to feed
as much hay as we desire with no waste.
This feeder also prevents constant moving around causing waste
and curves aggressive behavior as well  We change depth of
feeder and width of openings depending on the age group we are
feeding.  And we are always devising something different that will
improve the function of the feeder.

We also place our mineral feeders within the manger at the end to
prevent defecation in the buckets.   Water buckets can also be placed
in the  feeder but keep away from the hay.  The adult goat feeders are
20 inches deep.
Our goats enjoy pasture from April until the end of December
